Description: Students would be providing childcare while parent clients are in session, assisting in the front office, and helping out at special events. They would also be exposed to a professional counseling setting, and have to opportunity to learn about the practices we utilize at ChildSafe, including traditional talk therapy, play therapy, neurofeedback, and EMDR. This is not a clinical position and therapy sessions cannot be observed.
What tasks are interns able to do in your agency?: A combination of administrative work and hanging out with children while their parents are in session. As an example, our summer intern split her time pretty evenly between doing activities with children and working with a therapist to prepare our adolescent girls group. Unfortunately our undergraduate interns are not allowed to participate in or observe any therapy sessions, but we encourage our interns to schedule some time with our therapists or clinical director to learn about our practice, specifically our work with trauma survivors, and we like to offer a neurofeedback demo. Our program is pretty student driven and we really like to accommodate the interests and ideas of our interns.
How many days/hours per week would you want interns to commit to?: We don't have an hours requirement and let the students decide how many credits they want to do. The only scheduling constraints we really have are driven by our clients' needs for "childcare."

We have had great success when creating a customized plan to address all these elements to the specific patient needsl. Restoring a person's biochemical imbalances helps eliminate cravings that lead to addiction. We don't just treat the symptoms and teach you to cope, we strive to eliminate the source of cravings and prepare you with lifelong tools necessary to stay sober. Unfortunately, many treatment programs choose to focus on just one of these four crucial elements. This often alleviates the goals of achieving lifelong sobriety.

Description: The Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking is a Denver-based, Colorado-focused non-profit organization whose mission it is to inform social change that ultimately ends human exploitation.
We advance this mission through collaborative, data-driven research and strategic partnerships with community organizations, academic institutions, nonprofits, and public agencies. As a “laboratory,” LCHT creates space for innovative, inclusive, and equitable responses to human trafficking—rooted in the values of human rights, social justice, and survivor-centered practice.
LCHT advances its mission to end human trafficking through four core programs, each addressing a different dimension of the movement—from training and education, and prevention to direct support via our 24/7 Colorado-wide Human Trafficking Hotline, to Research and Action and Leadership Development. Together, these programs form a coordinated, statewide strategy to strengthen Colorado’s response to exploitation.
What tasks are interns able to do in your agency?: There are two main ways interns can get involved at LCHT. The first is to apply to join our Leadership Development Program. This program is for you if you want to learn how to become a sustainable leader in anti-trafficking, human rights work, or a parallel movement. Participants complete a minimum of 150 hours in either Summer (June-August), or Fall (September-November). Yearlong internships may be considered in some cases. Leadership Development Program internships are unpaid, but needs-based scholarships are available.
The other way volunteers can get involved is to volunteer on Colorado's 24/7 Human Trafficking Hotline. This Hotline is supported through the dedication of incredible volunteer advocates.
Advocates take calls/texts remotely and are trained to handle a variety of call and/or text scenarios with a focus on connecting callers to the hotline’s vetted list of resources and referral agencies around the state. This is a remote volunteering opportunity.
Training to become a Hotline Advocate typically occurs twice a year - in March and October.

Description: Children, Youth, and Family (CYF) works with children who are at risk of being abused or have been abused or neglected. It also works with children who are beyond their parent's control, have delinquent behavior, and/or have violated the law. CYF has a number of specialized programs devoted to serving the children and families of Larimer County. The CYF mission statement is very clear and fits the nature of the department's function. It expresses an integrated approach to child protection, family, and juvenile justice.
What tasks are interns able to do in your agency?: Hero Helper volunteers and college Interns give overburdened staff a chance to delegate and catch up with paperwork. Volunteers who enjoy learning new tasks will feel very appreciated when they can get time-consuming admin tasks completed. Potentially, these volunteers support clients' efforts towards self-sufficiency and safety, by freeing up some value time caseworkers can spend with them. Interns receive on the job training and experience that they need in order to work in the child and adult welfare environment. Some of the reasons volunteers enjoy being in our offices: * Learning about child and adult welfare best practices * Understanding through experiences about being an advocate for children and adults * Working one-one with a case worker; being a part of their team, and accomplishing real tasks to lighten their overwhelming paperwork load * Advocating for kids by learning about community supports * Learning self-care strategies and resiliency in a helping profession impacted by trauma, poverty and addiction. We hope that those who choose to volunteer with us will be personally enriched by the experience.
How many days/hours per week would you want interns to commit to?: Interns who work in Paired Teams of case workers, will need to be authorized by their school and human services program, like social work or human development, psychology or sociology. They are requested to work a minimum of 15 hours per week due to the screening and training processes, which are time intensive. Interns who work in service teams, not paired teams, may have a bit more flexibility depending on need and experience level. Our agency does not provide therapeutic visits or therapy internships.

Description: Our research broadly focuses on social cognition in infancy. We are running a number of studies with infants & toddlers ranging from 6 months- 4 years old. These studies are largely focused on discovering what infants think about various aspects of the social world. Some of the topics we look at include examining infants' preferences for characters based on their social behavior or group membership and infants' reasoning about the natural world.
What tasks are interns able to do in your agency?: Interns will work closely with lab researchers on new and ongoing studies, participating fully in all aspects of the research process. Interns will become familiar with experimental methods used in infant studies, and will immediately become involved in recruiting and testing participants, designing and setting up studies, and coding and analyzing results. They will also attend a weekly lab meeting where we discuss the theoretical motivation for our studies, experimental data, and relevant research findings from other labs. In addition, interns will have the chance to learn about and interact with other developmental psychology labs at Yale, and attend sessions organized by professors and graduate students on topics such as applying to graduate school. Interns are encouraged to join graduate students and other researchers from across the department in fun activities such as barbecues, bowling, trivia, and karaoke nights.
How many days/hours per week would you want interns to commit to?: The internship will involve a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week. Undergraduate students at all stages, from all universities are welcome to apply. This includes students graduating in 2019. Prior research experience is strongly preferred.
